    How to ask a philanthropist for money
    I am a single parent and wanted to know if there was a philanthropist that would help me financially

    Your best bet is to go to t he reference desk at your public library and ask for the grants directory. You can identify individuals and associations who might have money for your situation, but be aware that there will be conditions you have to fill and an application process. Also ask about local help--village, township, county resources, food pantries, churches, local charities, etc.
