Genius Mouse!
Hi, there! I seem to have a genius mouse in my house!
Here's what I have done so far: put out regular traps, mouse took bait without springing trap. Put out glue traps, didn't catch anything. Put bait in the center of glue trap, mouse managed to get bait and not get stuck. Finally, put out poison, but I don't think it has taken any and I am still getting fresh evidence of a mouse's presence.
I've never actually seen it, but I am finding mouse poo in certain places: in a particular drawer (no food at all in there-in fact, once I noticed a mouse I immediately took everything out of it), my oven drawer, and in my bathroom. I still have a glue trap underneath the oven and in the drawer and bathroom, and the poison is also underneath the oven. Odd that it hasn't gotten into any food at all, and I have found zero evidence of it anywhere remotely near any stored food. My kitchen is very new, new oven, new flooring, so it's really clean underneath all appliances as they are all new. It's odd that the mouse doesn't seem to be getting food except for maybe accidental crumbs. And it seems to really like the bathroom, which seems odd too. Bathroom is on the opposite end of the house vs the kitchen.
What else could I try?
The only thing I could think of would be a live trap, but I wouldn't know what to do with the thing if I caught it live! I wouldn't want it coming back or anything. I do live in town. Wouldn't want to let it loose and have someone else get it in their house either!
So is there anything else besides a live trap? I'd really only like to try the live trap as a last resort.

What are you using to bait the traps?

I don't know much about getting rid of mice, but I do know I hate those glue traps! There was this shelving unit that pulled out. And I pulled the bottom shelf out. We had put some glue traps down underneath all of the shelves. Guess what was sitting there just looking up at me? A huge, ugly, LIVE mouse. Or maybe it was a rat. I was to scared to even figure out what it was. I just ran to make find someone else to get rid of it.

Try using peanut butter. Mice absolutely love it and since its sticky and gooey they can't just grab it and run.

What kind of people food? I work in a grocery store. There's certain shelves we make sure to clean very well, very often (we have exterminators come all the time but I don't know what exactly they do. I just know I don't see glue traps anymore). The shelves with the rice pasta (they seem to like it better than the regular kind haha). The shelves with the pre-cooked rice. And the shelves with nuts. Someone told me the other day we should put peanut butter in the traps.

Actually, it was a grain of rice! But I'm going to go ahead right now and try the PB! God, I hope this works! Awesome idea though, I never thought of the PB. You're right, it can't grab and run! Ha! I hope this works!

You're braver than me! Haha I'd probably break down in tears if I woke up to find a mouse.

I think I saw some sort of glue trap thing at Walmart the other day where the mouse walks in and it somehow closes on them. Then you just throw it away. I don't know how well it works though.
I also recently found that mint is suppose to repel mice, not entirely sure why, so if at all possible you could try planting mint around the house to discourage the pesky visitors.

Well, if the PB fails I'll take a look at WalMart. I just got the stuff I have at the Dollar General (it's name brand good quality stuff, D-Con I think), but they have a limited selection. I'm sure WalMart has more stuff. I'll probably be going shopping tomorrow so I'll check it all out and probably just pick up the live trap while I'm at it just in case.
Oh, I think you're talking about that trap that's round and it spins when the mouse goes in? Yeah, that might work too! Except I'd dread hearing that clicking sound it makes like on the commercial! No doubt it'll be in the middle of the night and wake me up all grossed out! God only knows what happens to mousie when he walks in! Sounds like it gets cut in half! Eeeew!

If all you see is droppings, it may not be a mouse. An outdoor living species of roach sometimes comes inside in the summertime and its droppings resemble those of mice quite closely. Signs of mice to confirm would be torn up paper goods(nesting material) and food containers being gnawed on.
Stick with the peanut butter on a glue board(not a glue tray) and see what you catch.
