Can my employer just change my wages?
When I was hired on, I was told base salary of 30k, $20 an hour for loading and unloading my truck, $20 an hour for weekends. This is based on an 8 hour work day. In a recent meeting I was informed I was going to be making $15 dollars an hour for weekends and am no longer going to get paid for loading my truck which takes between 1-2 hours a day. I haven't worked less than 11 hours a day 6 days a week since I've been hired. Can they just do that?

Unless you have a written contract for a period, or unless you are a union employee,

Yes they may change the pay rate and change benefits anytime they wish

Was there any form of contract signed by you and your employer? Is there any sort of union involvement?

The problem with the economy right now is that this will be happening more and more often.

It's a company solution to downsizing, so you choose, less pay and a job, or no pay.

Employer threatening to dock wages. [ 6 Answers ]

My employer recently sent out a mass e-mail threatening to dock wages if the Dress Code is not adhered to, at the rate of 50 cents per hour for 30 days. They send out secret shoppers and evidently are willing to take the word of the secret shopper as truth. Is this legal? Thanks
