I am a nanny & housekeeper what should I be paid?
I have worked at my position now for 4 months. I was hired as a nanny and housekeeper. During the school year I show up at 6:30am, I am expected to feed the children breakfast, make their lunch, make sure they have brushed their teeth, washed their faces, make their beds etc and out the door to catch the bus. Both parents are home sleeping at this time so I do quiet activities such as sweep the floor, do any laundry that needs to be done and clean the bathroom. Around 8:30am I drive back to my house for the day and return by 3:30pm. I make the kids a snack, vacuum, dust and prepare the evening meal. When the children come home I help them with their homework and play a game with them if there is time before supper. I have 2 young children that I bring with me so all three of us eat with the family at 5:30pm and afterwards do the dishes and clean the kitchen. I can go home usually around 6:30pm.

I work 10 days on and 4 days off. For the most part the parents are at home, they get paid monthly but only work a few days out of the month. The salary I negotiated with them was $1000/mo gross before deductions. Which includes 4 overnights/mo.

When the mother is away for a week I bring the children to my house. If it's during the school year I drive them to and from school and feed them. The mother pays me $10/day for food for both children when they are at my house.

I am finding lately that after I deduct my gas traveling to and from work, I am not making hardly any money at all. Is it fair for me ask for more money? Should I be paid more for house cleaning?

Oh yeah and during the first part of the summer the children were with their grandma so I didn't have to watch them but still came every few days to clean the house and when they came back I looked after them from 10am until 6pm
