What is wrong with my son?
My 16 year old son is the angriest soul I've ever seen. I've raised him as I thought properly, I've been lenient but not too lenient. I've always noticed him to be extremely intelligent; he pays attention to political science and such and just walks circles around me regarding intelligence. I've caught him using marijuana once and though he said he wouldn't do it again, he is. I know it. He occasionally gives me insight on his political views, and they really resemble anarchy. He also knows a lot about technology. He's not like any other teenager I've known; he's not all that rebellious in a typical teen manner, but in a completely social manner. He has charisma, plenty of it. My family is mainly Christian but we don't enforce religion on others. I'm pretty lenient myself but I do uphold a belief in God, but I don't think he does. He's also utterly grounded in logic. Done things like let his hair grown out and listens to strange music from Europe.

Not to mention dropped out of school.. yet he could do things like correct his teachers.

Who is he? I don't know what's going on with him, or where he's going.

    Hello Curious:

Pardon me, but I didn't see anything in your description that would qualify as "wrong". Sounds like a great 16 year old kid.

Like excon said, he sounds like he's... um... sixteen and definitely an interesting young man. He was probably totally bored in school.

Humm, excon remember the 60's, growing hair long ( god I wish I had it now) and listening to that strange Europe music ( Beatles)

And had my parents let me, I may have dropped out of school.

So first question, he is 16, so you don't let him drop out of school, you take his butt to school every day, and make him go. Who is the parent ?

And you don't let a child make his own choices, you decide and show them what to do and how to do it.

If he is not challeged, can you afford private school, or even home school, where he can do advanced studies.

And sorry, kids in high school listen to the teachers, they don't "teach" them.

I would say that perhaps you have allowed the child to run his own life way too much

His friends are the alternative, punk, skater sort of kids. But the music isn't the Beatles; no. The bands I've found are called Venom, Akercocke, Darkthrone, and some others. Metal, it seems, but he vehemently hates basically any American band you bring up to him, or publicized band, though he doesn't mind things like the Beatles. And no, he does not care what his teachers say; he has no concern with what they say, and he is completely indifferent to anything and everything they could say. We don't have enough to afford a private school. He has mentioned that he wants to get his GED, but, still.

He's also very cynical in the way he conveys himself, and like I said, angry in demeanor and such; he's a bit misanthropic at times, and his humour tends to go a bit.. out of morality. I've somewhat discovered he doesn't believe in morality, and calls himself amoral.

    Hello again, C:

He's 16. He's growing up and figuring things out. That's perfectly NORMAL, mom.
