I have a diffult situation that I really need some insight on. I have a 17 1/2 year old daughter that has just recently had contact with her biological father after 9 years. His parental rights were revoked because he was involved in our daughter being sexually assaulted when she was 2. She does not know this man but is of course excited to speak with him and now wants him to attend her graduation and to travel to his state to see him on a school break. My husband and I are devistated by this. Why after all of these years he wants back into her life. He has never mentally, financially, or physically supported his daughter. What should I do??

Has all of this been explained to the girl.

Next who made the first contract the girl or the man ?

If she is looking him up, it may not be his fault. We get notices of people who are teens on here all the time looking for their bio parents for various reasons.

I would try and explain this to the girl.

Does your daughter know he was involved with her sexual assault? If she does not, perhaps she should. Has this man changed over the years? Not engaged in illegal sexual activity? Why didn't he even provide child support over the years?

I would not want to allow my daughter any contact with such a man. But your daughter is almost 18 and at 18, she can pursue meeting her biological father on her own. At least now, perhaps you and your husband can provide some safeguards. As in, not allowing her to be alone with him for starters. Also, it might be a good idea to contact an attorney and ask what your legal rights are here. Best of all to you.
