    The missing man. Robert Brandigan.
This happened to one of my friends. It is not really a question, I'm just curious as to what people's thoughts are on this story:

My friend is one of 8 kids who currently live in a small house in the country in Wisconsin. When the house was being built, and the exterior, and most of the interior (except for the flooring) was finished, the family moved in.

A few days later, my friend's dad and mom came across a man on their road who was hitchhiking. He gave them a first and last name-Robert Brandigan, and told them that he was from a nearby college, had been robbed, and the police were taking care of it. They picked him up and gave him a place to stay. While he was there, he told the family that he was a Christian. He was very kind to everyone. A couple of weeks after he showed up, he told the family that he had enough money for a plane ride to California, and he would send the kids some books once he got there. He gave them an address and told them to write.

The family did write, but the letters were sent back saying that no such address existed. The books never came. The family asked the police if there was any record of Robert Brandigan being robbed. There wasn't.

To this day, my friend keeps looking for Robert Brandigan. That was several years ago. The family thinks that the man may have been a heavenly being, like an angel. What do you guys think?

I think the guy was some kind of criminal. He may have been running from the law. He probably just needed a place to stay for a while. Fortunately, he didn't steal anything from them or con them out of anything.

Of course, that's just my opinion. The angel angle? Possibly. But what did he do for the family? Just be nice to them? There are plenty of ways for God to do that without resorting to angels. If he were an angel, I would have expected him to do something signifcant for them. Angels don't show up unless there's a need -- at least that's my belief.

It's risky business bringing a complete stranger into your home, especially one with children.

Maybe he was just a drifter and gave a different name.

    But you never know...
