A PC Home Network is the most secure with ethernet wiring and wireless turned off in the routers options. If you need wireless because wires would be too difficult to connect all pc's in the house, make sure you are protected with the latest encryption. WEP encrytion is old and insecure, WAP is newer and harder to hack. I think there is a newer one, something like WPA (I do not use wireless my buddy mentioned the new one so I'm not sure). Once your wireless is encrypted, only those with the password can connect to your PC. People who do not encrypt their wireless, or use the old standard, are susceptible to nieghbors using their connection for free.

A fully wired network with wireless disabled can only be accessed by people in the house. And if your PC's are password protected, even they would have trouble.
