The same thing happens with the sun and the stars... Did you never notice it?
They are so far away that when you move, they do not seem to have moved from where they were.
It's just like when you're in a car, you see the other cars go faster, the closer they are to you, but the further they are, despite going at the same speed, they will appear to move slower. Now imagine they were much much much MUCH further. They would appear to remain still.
As for your other question, it's the same thing as you can see things in the day. If you can answer that, I don't see what you want to know... :confused:
