    I need everyone's opinion
One of my teaches said something really intresting today and I need everyone's input. "From the very beginning we have had questions of how thigs happen and we say it must be the work of god. The question I ask all of you is Did god create us or did we create god ????" This is how he ended the class. I also need to know where he got it from.

What is your opinion about is question. Do you personally believe that we created a god or do you think a god created us. What is your belief?

I personally will tell you that without God there would be nothing. I do not believe we created God.

    What does he mean?

There are 2 theories on God.

First, he is real, and he created all us humans.

Second, he is not real, and us humans have “created him”. In that, created a “person” that does not really exist. Therefore, we have created God.

Those are the 2 options he was referring to.

I'm a deist. This means I believe that some intelligent force created the physical laws by which this universe operates.

I believe that all organized religion is just an attempt to understand this force. And that each religion was created by man in the attempt to understand.

Of course that's my opinion and does not reflect the views of the management ;)

Have you ever read the Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy? You might want to do so (you could rent the DVD, but you really need to read the book to follow it).

GOD created man, man created religion. Religion is mans failed attempt to explain or articulate GOD. Man is a co-creator with GOD and creates his own reality. Everything that has ever been created began as thought energy in the mind. Thoughts are energy transforming to matter. Energy and matter are the same thing just as ice and steam are the same thing in different forms. Mans creations follow his dominate thought... Negative or positive polarity. GODs creations follow his dominate thought... good.

I see proof all around me that you don't have to believe there is a god to lead to happy fulfilling life. Sh*t happens to everyone regardless of how they live their lives, as well good things happen to people who are basically good to others. If someone has cancer whether you pray for their health or not it won't make a difference really, good medicine and the body's health at that time are the determining factors.

If we created God, then who created us? God was and is first and foremost in all creation. Does not matter if you believe in the big bang or not - there had to be the catalyst to the bang. This type of question reminds me of some of the questions the inquisitioners asked of their victims during the Inquistion. How can you answer it? Only by faith in your own teachings.

The idea of those that don't believe in God and organised religion is that god is not real. And they want to teach that the idea of God is a man made idea used to explain how and why things work a certain way.

The idea of a Sun god raising every morning and the moon god being chased from the sky. And so on

This idea and teaching is normally part of the teaching to try to draw people into talks to make them start to doubt their faith by showing how in some cultures man did develop religions for their purpose.

With all of this one only has to look into nature to see God and the power he has. But those that don't want any faith are free to reject it also. But I am always amazed that those that reject normally have a mission to take it away from you also.

With all due respect, Father Chuck, just as you are "always amazed that those that reject normally have a MISSION TO TAKE IT AWAY from you also."

I'm equally amazed that those who have a mission to convince you to accept. Both groups have agenda - from diff sides. Who is right? Of course, you think you are, and reject without doubts others who are not on your side. Just like sales persons trying to sell diff brands of product/service.

Who created us? Have you forgotten so soon? The ones directly involve in the process is your dad and mum. And poor mum got to carry you for 9-10 months. Did you worship her, praise her effort and sufferings, pain? It's amazing the credit was attributed to something else. Poor mum (and dad?)

If there's a creator, who's the destroyer? There's a beginning, shouldn't there be an end? Or you just believe in perpectual state of everything. Sounds like Buddhism's reincarnation?

Doesn't matter. Many schools of thoughts. Just pick any - all seems have some truth. As long as you happy in this life. Just pick one. If your mind is independent and strong, you may not need any.

First of all, I think your teacher did that so you would do some thinking. So I hope you are and that all of this is adjunct to that or used as a catalyst for more thinking, okay? Thinking is good!

I believe there may be a creator. I believe man made the God we speak of today. How's that for seeming contradiction!

And contrary to what Fr Chuck said, I take most of my spiritual lessons from nature - the physical universe is an amazing place. But I also take lessons from time, like in history and literature and such. Time does does very interesting things.

What do you think, Jvibe.. . hmmmmm?

I realize this is an older post, but I want to answer anyway... :p
Your question reminds me of a course I took once, Philosophy, Science and belief. It basically covered the controversy of different religions, science, and unexplained phenomena (evolution/creation/miracles). It is possible that your teacher took a real interest in Ethics and is using it as a tool for critical thinking and debate. Your question happens to be my favorite discussion topic... the outcomes are infinite and you can learn so much about the character of other people by getting an insite of their faith and what they use to back up their beliefs.
I personally believe there is really no wrong answer or one right opinion in this case; it is totally dependent on ones moral judgment within their own beliefs.
