    Unix books
    My engineer at work is wanting me to learn Unix & then Java-can anyone recommend some really good books for a novice user to read? Thank you.

    I'm making do with Unix for Dummies and O'Reillys UNIX in a Nutshell. Depending on your specific systems, there may be subtle differences between them. I also find myself frequently referencing the MAN pages or just doing a Google search.

    Someone else will have to comment on JAVA, but Beginning Programming with Java For Dummies couldn't hurt.
