    International wire transfer
Does anyone know of a bank or banking service that either charges a minimal amount
Or no charge for an international wire transfer. I recently conducted one at my bank, and
The bank got $45 (USD) for the transfer, and by the time the money reached the foreign bank, $32 (USD) were missing from the transferred amount. $77 (USD) to transfer money
To a foreign bank seems rather high.

First why are your using the bank transfer, what is it for??

You can write a check and mail it, US funds are acceptable anywhere in the world.

Also western union sends money to almost anywhere in the world also.

With bank transfers, the bank sending and the bank receiving will both have charges they place on this.

So I guess I would ask, since you are asking you plan on sending more international transfers, what is this for ? I ask because there are a lot of scams going around that want you to send international wire transfers of money after you receive and cash checks for them, ( or money orders)

    Fr_Chuck,

Thanks for getting back. The international wire transfer is for a rental. I checked out the receiving bank ahead of time, and spoke with the branch manager, who confirmed that
The account was valid. The owner, who lives in the UK confirmed that everything except $32 (USD) reached the account in a Canadian Bank. I checked out the Western Union web site, but that only offers, US, Mexico or the Philippines. I haven't had a chance to call them yet, but if they will send money to a foreign bank, I will use them. Of couse, I could just put money in the foreign bank, and when my wife and I travel there, we could use the foreign bank, which uses the IBAN protocol for international banking. It's obviously not
Life and death, just an attempt to save money.

Yes, some of the bank fees are bad, I told one once that they may at least have a gun and mask if they were going to rob me.

Is there a reason you can't just write them a check and mail it ?

Yes, the owner uses a property management company, and wire transfers are all that
They will accept. I have contacted an in country bank, to see what I can do about
Opening an account, so that I can move money around a little more easily. I also
Will contact western union. Yeah, fees are fact of life in a market econonmy; either
    Pay or nothing will happen.
