I was stopped and given a speeding ticket in Oregon, but the policeman wrote down the wrong model Ford vehicle: An "Expedition" instead of an 'Explorer'. What can I do? Can I contest this ticket for inaccuracy?

You can always contest a ticket. Whether you'll prevail is something else again. As an educated guess I don't think any judge is going to let you off the hook just because a cop specified "Expedition" instead of "Explorer." Speeding tickets are among the hardest to contest as it's pretty hard to argue with radar. If you were driving your vehicle, whatever kind it may be, over the speed limit and the cop who issued you the ticket clocked you on radar and has the radar report to back himself up, then you're going to be convicted. Your only possible saving grace would be if the officer who gave you the ticket doesn't show up in court to testify against you. You can take that gamble if you want. If you do, be prepared to pay not only the prescribed fine but court charges as well.

That descrepancy isn't going to get you out of the ticket.

Your best bet would be to contact the prosecuting attorney and try to make a deal with him/her. If you have a clean driving record, odds will be in your favor. Usually, all they want is the money so they'll be willing to not put the points towards your license as long as you pay the fine.

It sucks, but it's cheaper than having a your insurance increase for the next few years.
