will dad or i get in trouble for adding his name on birth certificate?
My sons father and I are not married. When I had my son I didn't want the dad on the birth certificate because of the public aid. I listened to my sister and I regret not doing it. Its been 4 years already and I want to put his name on the certificate but Im afraid that he or I might get in trouble. I want to have another baby but Im not sure if he signs this one that there will be problems. Im from Illinois and stuff around here is complicated. There are some people that get away with it. Now with this whole immagration thing going and they see our names and right away they're quick to judge. (which I am a citizen) I just want to know what are the consequences and will he have to pay the state back even if I receive food stamps? I think I need consultation with a lawyer, right? =(

You have dug yourself a hole with this one. Here is what is going to happen if you apply for state aide. They are going to want to know who the father is. And he will be ordered to pay child support. To put someone's name on a borth certificate at this point after 4 years is going to require a court order and a DNA test. He will be asked to pay the state back. Its only right because its HIS child too.

Women may have 5 kids each with different fathers, so having him on this one.

Of course you did commit welfare fraud, if you knew who the father was and signed the paper work to the welfare department saying you did not know who he was.

If he does add his name to the first, yes,if you collected welfare they will come after him for support.

Assuming you live together ? ( having two kids together makes them thing so) then I will assume you list him on the welfare application as a residence.

So merely adding him on the new child only means in the future they will want him to be paying child support if he is not living in the home on the new child.

** no idea what citizenship has to do with this, since you did not say ?
