    Website Design Lien Laws
Hi, I was contracted by a company that went out of business. The corporation we were doing the work for has our programming and has not paid the contractor and stated it was our problem to collect for the person how hired us. They gave the contract to the company that hired us and once payment is made to them they pay us. Anyone with experience on how to collect from the owner of the work? I was wondering if I could place a mechanics or other lien on the corp?

If the company went out of business, and it was a corporation, you may just be out, since your contract was with them, not with the company that they were selling to. If the Corp has went out of business properly, then there would be no property to put a lien on.

Basically, we met with the company for all the business analysis meetings and developed the program they now use. They have not paid the contractor but in the past we were advised if build a site or similar to a home we do not lien the contractor we lien the house. If they decide to use our work I am am confused why they do not have to pay either or at least the people who worked on the home site. Crazy world I know!
