If you mean can you force him out, probably not. You can be vigilant and warn your neighbors to be likewise. You cannot do anything to harass or intimidate him.

First, don't badger or harrass the guy, everyone deserves a right to live some where. Would I like it if he was my neighbor? No, but I would be informed. I would contact the local police department for tips and suggestions. Remember the key here is not for you to violate his rights by doing something on emotion. Work with the police, create a watch network for the kids in the nieghborhood and teach your kids to be safe.

    Hello cassiek:

Nahhh. Don't worry about him. I live right next door. Check out my profile. You'd think they'd have a way of notifying you when people like ME move into your neighborhood, but noooooo.

At the rate people have been locked up recently, I'm sure you've got criminals living all over your neighborhood.

Here is a list of some crimes that you can become a sex offender for

Being under 14 and having consentual sex
Being a few months older than your boyfriend/girl friend, and turning 18
Selling drugs to a minor in some states
Urinating in public in most states
    Kid napping a minor
Murder of someone under 18 in some states
    Having public sex consentually
Being lied to by a minor with a fake ID
My personal favorite: pissing a woman off and getting fake charges pressed!

While kidnapping, murder and selling drugs are surely very bad crimes, there is no reason for them to be classified as sex offenders. The ignorance about the public regarding sex offenders is appalling. What if the person moving in next door is on the registry for urinating in public. Should you really be worried about this person? I think not. And statistically only 6% of sex offenders ever get re arrested for a sexual offense. That means 94% are never going to re offend. Further more, a child has a greater chance of being molested by a step parent or a cousin than a stranger.

Here the police do notify the public when a sexual offender moves into the city - gives the name, picture, address, crime, and risk of repeated offense. The information is not given to scare people or to get a vigilante party together but to inform.

You need to take precautions, consider safety, and go about your life. IF there is something notably suspicous, call your police.
