Money stolen, thief files bankruptcy, lien possible?
I paid for a class at a supposed art school Colorado Academy of Art. The owner kennedy took my money but then the class was cancelled. He refused to provide a receipt for my money. I only have my credit card statement. He filed bankruptcy. Is it still possible to get a lien against his property? It was almost 2000 dollars. Thank you.

    Was the school incorporated ?
Was he or the school that went bankrupt
Did you appear at the bankruptcy hearing to object

If you can prove or show it as a theft, then they can not file bankruptcy on a "criminal" debt.

But if bankrutpcy has been filed, you can't do anything at this point except to appear at the bankruptcy hearing (or hire an attorney to) and try to show why your debt should not be included.

It is very possible that you will just lose your money That is how bankruptcy works, people who owe money file and don't have to pay
