Missing backpay ss disability for children
    Hello!
My husband was disabled, and committed suicide after all. We had a disability claim, and local judge granted the back pay after my husband's death. At first, social security clerk told me that kids are entitled to receive some money, too. However, social security sent the check only for my husband's sick time. My disability lawyer told me that someone from socials security will call me to get kid's SSN and info in order to proceed. It never happened. Every time I called to Social security. I was told that they will look into it, and that I will receive a letter of an explanation. I never got letter. Months are passing by, and seems like nobody knows what to do. The lawyer said that there is nothing he can do. From what I was told before, I supposed to get additional 8000 for two boys, because if my husband would be disabled and receiving the benefits, the kids would be getting them, too.
Hope someone knows the answer to my question. How to proceed?

Have you tried going to their office in person with the SS cards of the boys in your hand? Somehow in person makes the difference with these people. I'd go there in person and ask to speak to a supervisor regardless of how long the wait may be.

Hi, I am sorry, I did not write that I was in the Social security office in person several times, since October 2007, they know that I am entitled for the cash for the boys. However, they promise so I will get the letter with explanation, in 14 days, and than in another 14 days or a month. The disability lawyer can not help. He advised me to write to senator, I did. Got the answer that they will be checking with Social Security about that disability back pay.
It was in April when I wrote to the local senator. Should I write him again?
    Thanks, be well.

Definitely write the Senator a follow up on not receiving the back pay. They have no idea if you got it or didn't. I am sure a follow letter would be in order.
