Married less than a year who inherits?
My niece passed away and was married to the guy for less than a year does he get the inheritance? She also left a mother and brother, but the brother is incarcerated. Does the mother get the inheritance or the widower? By the way the now deceased daughter inherited the money from her dad when he passed away. Who gets what?

If she died without a will, one would have to look to the intestacy laws of the state where she resided. Normally her widower gets a portion and perhaps her mother gets some portion.

First its not a good idea to piggyback your question on someone else's. This can lead to confusion. You should start a new thread. So I've moved your question to its own thread.

We need to know the area (i.e. US State) you live in. Inheritance laws vary. It doesn't matter how the deceased got the money, its now her's.

Generally, the spouse regardless of the length of the marriage, will get either all or a share. Children come next, then parents and siblings.

Normally the husband will get either all or a majority of it, ( does not matter if they were married one day or 10 years) if there was no will.
Then if they had any children they may get a share,

And how was the money in the bank, was there a joint name on the account

The length of the marriage does not matter. Otherwise distribution is by State Law.
