    How do I go about Reporting a HIPAA violation?
    My husbands Medical Insurance Company violated our Privacy by giving our address to his ex-wife, who is not covered on the Plan. The person and their Manager admitted it and we also have written proof that it was done. We went to a lawyer who had no experience with this and felt she would not get any money since the lawyer for the Insurance Co made an offer then rescinded it. I want to know which governmental agency I can report this to and get a more experienced lawyer.

    What were your damages due to this breach? I'm sure the Attorney explained that you collect based on damages.

    As far as a more experienced Attorney you will have to call around in your City and see which Attorneys specialize in HIPAA law.

    I would not report this as a HIPAA violation until you speak to an Attorney.
