    What other assets?

You just said the only thing she has is a home.

As for the home, it is probably JTRS (Joint Tenancy with Right of Survivorship)

As for the contents, why not just ask the boyfriend for the things you want?

If not, you will need a lawyer and have to go to court to handle all of this.

NOTE: I would also get a lawyer to check into seeing if the house is JTRS. Most likely it is, but it is possible it is not.

If it is JTRS, its passes to the Joint Tenant and is not part of her estate. You are entitled to any of her possessions.

First sorry for the loss of your mother

As noted if the house is joint tenant with right of survialship, the other party, in this case boyfriend, gets full ownership of the house. It would not go into the estate. Also any bank accounts, that are joint between the two work the same way.

If she had anything just in her name, car or if she had any personal property, couch, table, her clothes and the such would be part of her estate and her children would get those.

    Hello,
What if the boyfriend was her husband?
And the house is only in her name. Do children get anything?
How about her other assets, like car jewellery etc.

    Thanks
