Something you ate, perhaps. A illness coming on? The list can go on and on, Age, sex, general health and more are all issues.

Has it ever happened before ?

As well, are you sexual active, are you using protection. I know it is the question and assumption you will get at any medical office, but is there a chance of pregnancy? Do you work with, or did you work with, harsh chemicals? Biological containments?

Largely vomiting is a mental thing, it is your brains response to incoming signals from the stomach, gut, and external environment. For example, sympathy puking. If you go to a restaurant and have something different than your friend. If you friend gets sick and you see/hear/smell it than there is a good chance you will too. Even if there is nothing nasty in your meal. Why? Your brain is wired for communal eating, if your friend got sick than something you ate might get you sick so it is safer to expel everything from the stomach to stave off sickness. When you do have an unsettled stomach, it sends that message to your brain but it is it's choice whether to chuck it or not.

So the cause might be physical or environmental. Take a look around and recall what you did earlier in the day, chances are you will find your solution.
