    Re private ambulances
The hospitals in my area are not ones you want to use. My partner is a patient at Sloan
And that's 23 miles away but if there's an emergency I know that the ambulance would
Not take us there. Can we pay an ambulance company to take us there if needed?

    Hello jammy:

I'm sure you can. It's just a glorified taxicab, after all.

    Depending on the emergancy,
In fact if minutes mattered, most will take you to the nearest ER.

If it is not a life threatening emergancy, you can pay a private service to transport you to anywhere they can drive.

You can use a private service if there is one in your area. Most hospitals, however, employ their own services and they will take you to the nearest hospital for stabilization. Once stabilized you can ask for a transfer to another hospital.
