    Privacy when checking blood sugars?
I am a type 1 diabetic and I had a heart bypass a few months ago. I started going to physical therapy where they make me check my blood sugar in front of all the other patients. Is this breaking the HIPPA law? Shouldn't I have privacy?

They "make" you check your blood sugar in front of the other patients? My late husband was diabetic. If he wanted to test in private that's what he told medical personnel and that's what he did.

Very seldom happened because he was an educator, wanted other people to see that he was able to control his blood sugar.

I do not see any violation here.

If they announce your results and you don't want that, tell them.

You can always approach the supervisor and complain.

    (It's HIPAA, not HIPPA.)

You Should be in title to your own privacy when doing this so my advise would be speak to some one in charge and state that you feel very exposed when doing this and see where that takes you
