    Lumbar Back pain
I hurt my back for the first time when i was 15. (Lifting a drawer & twisting at the same time) I Couldnt move from where i was without being in excruciating pain.
Then i hurt my back again when i was 16 lifting, again i couldnt move without being in pain for up to an hour.
    I hurt my back again in February 2008 ( I am 20 now, 3/11/88)
which hasn't stopped hurting ever since, some days i need help to get out of bed and use the bathroom.
My pain is in the lumbar region, i have been to Physio and acupuncture (which made the pain a lot worse).
I have had an x ray (didn't show anything)
I've had Codeine, Codalgin, Synflex, Panadol, Tramadol, Muscle relaxants, Ibuprofen and Amitryptiline all which have helped none.
I have no reflexes in both my legs, Pain in hips, buttocks and both legs.
My legs are weak & sometimes give way.
I've been to 3 different doctors who keep sending me to Physio which makes the pain worse & painful to walk.

It has nearly been a year of constant pain, what is wrong?
    :( :( :( :(

My mother had a lot of the same problems after a work related injury. She was then sent to an orthopedic surgeon who ordered, MRI's, and Milograms, which showed she had blown disks. They had to operate and everything was fixed. Of course the pain from surgery was there, and then there was scar tissue that started to rear it's ugly head. The pain for her is also really bad, and the doctors sent her to a "pain clinic" which helped her get on the right regiment of pain meds. If you have insurance that will pay for it, demand them do and MRI or milogram, (I can't remember which one is for what). Regular x-rays' aren't going to necessarily show the problem. But it sounds like your doctor needs to take a different route.

I live in New Zealand, my injury is covered by ACC, however I'm having trouble getting anywhere with my doctors. They seem useless. :(

All the do is give me more drugs and refer me to physio.
I'm enrolling with a new doctor soon, see what she can do for me I guess.

Another thing that they tried on my mom before the surgery was cortizone shots. I can't remember the name of the procedure, but for some people it helps, my mom it didn't.
But it's another idea for you.
