Can anyone tell me what this is? Someone said a service loop.

It looks like just some extra wire they hung there cause it had no where to go yet. Once the destination is ready, they will run the wire. Actually I do not know but I thought I would throw in my 2 cents. If you had an amplifier, but had not bought the speakers yet and were using headphones, what would you do with the speaker wire?
