Recording from VCR to computer hard drive
I know about recording from a camera to computer hard drive but what about from a VCR with a VHS tape? Obviously it needs a special cable of some kind. Does anyone know how this is done and would I need something else than a cable.
Is there such a thing as phone cable with a USB on the other end? Thanks.

There are adapters for that. Most I've seen are about half the size of a standard VHS tape with connections for the yellow composite video and left and right stereo audio. They connect to the computer though the USB port (may require USB 2.0). Some external and internal TV tuners also have video capture capability. If you are willing to use an RF connection between the VCR and the adaptor you may be able to use an external tuner that is no larger than your thumb. Check with local and online computer and office supply chains.
