It's not bad for your health. If you carve off the fat, it's very lean and healthy. The only viruses that can be in pork are from the pig and are eradicated when properly cooked.

I agree with the answer above.
Was there a particular reason why someone was telling you that pork is bad for a person's health?

What absolute coblers any meat contains bacteria and many other things but as cooking is normally above 100 degrees c its killed off, Admittedly some religions believe pork to be the up most sin to eat but that's there choice and has nothing to do with the meat itself.

As long as you cook it properly, cooked till therecorreect temperature is reached and the fat is cut off. It is one of the better meats,6 vitamins, 4 minerals and protein. Thiamin-B1, Thiamin-B2, Riboflavin-B2, Niacin-B3, Vitamin B6, B12, Panthothenate, Phosphorus, Magnisiu, Iron, Zinc and protein. I don't see how you can wrong!

There is an old saying and it was adhered to in our family; never eat pork in a month with an 'r' in it. And I don't think it is a european saying, probably new world.
I was watching a programme just last night on raising pigs. They inocoluate piglets with something (sorry the name escapes me) to boost their immune system, and shot of vitamin d. This is done after docking their tails, clipping their incisors (very long and sharp) so they don't get infections. Actually pigs are very clean animals in spite of how they live and their meat is safe to eat, as again, good info from lovelesspa above.

And most commercial pigs don't even get to live dirty, they will live their entire life on concrete pads, each pad is their home for about a month at a time, each time one group of pigs go to market, that pad is cleaned with hot water or steam and chemicals to clean the area, then the next group is moved over to that pen, and their area cleaned, and so on and so on, till they are all moved over the next group of baby pigs are ready to be taken from their mothers and moved to the starting pen.
Also almost every day their pen is washed to clean it with higher pressure water hoses. They eat out of covered feeders and so on.

Pork is fine as long as it is thoroughly cooked. Uncooked or undercooked pork can be dangerous.

Cook pork at until the internal temp reads 170. I was raised on a small farm... I can tell you that they are some nasty creatures and will even eat anything given a chance. I have also heard about them being undercooked and people getting parasites from eating it that way. I can't say that is a fact though.
I go by my meat probe 170 f for roast, ribs etc. Also all of the ads say pork the other white meat. But a little fat back, cracklings etc... every once in awhile is good.

It was considered an unclean meat to eat back in the old testament days because they did not have the means to keep it ''clean" since people didn't know about storing and cooking it properly.

I love pork meat. Its not bad if you take the fat out of it, and if you cook it well, uncooked could be pretty dangerous
