I believe rum is the definitive alcoholic additive, isn't it? And a little squirt of real whipped cream, if you need to be decadant about it. How much is the wrong thing to ask an alkie, even a recovering one :eek: LOL
No more than a jigger on a 8 oz glass, I would guess but my old way would be to test, and test and test and well you get the point!!
The flavor of eggnog improves when it is made a day ahead, to allow the alcohol to "mellow", The favorites to add are, of course Rum, the best is Amber Rum, cause of it's sweetness. also sherry, brandy or kahula. Depending on the amount your making, a shot a drink, strong to some. Try topping with nutmeg, for extra flavor. Here a great recipe: Homemade eggnog, (It'll keep your feet warm)
8 oz cognac, 16 oz cream, 6 whole eggs, 8 oz rum, 8 oz sugar---Seperate egg, in lg bowl beat egg yolks, sugar, rum, cognac, milk and cream till smooth. Serve in highball glasses and garnish with nutmeg (serves 4) :D
