    I know how you feel
Sweetheart, I've been there but for other reasons then hitting. I loved my daddy so much, he was my life. Having the same thoughts as you, I didn't want to lose him or hurt him so I kept quiet. Now I'm 51 years old and the pain is still there. Tell somebody so that both of you can heal. Good Luck angel :)

This has happed before and worse to a 13 year old young lady, and the only suggestion I can make it to go to a church or shelter and get away from the home as soon as possible. You might still love your parents, but they are too involved in themselves they cannot take care of you the way they should. Sorry your birthday will be 'messed' up, but be glad that nothing worse has happened so far. Once you get your life straightened out with a lot of help from professionals who can work with you, you'll hopefully forget these bad days and have a chance for a better life in the future. Children today have more rights than you think, so see someone now to get the help you need. You can get your material things back later, right now you need peace of mind. Your parents are grown and have to deal with their lives alone, you, however, can and should get as much help as possible - it's not only your right, it's the law.
Good Luck to you dear, and keep us posted.

I agree tell someone you do need to report this and things will get better if your dad goes into rehabillation it would only make thing better so I think you need to report this to someone even someone like your best friends mom if you don't want to go directly to the police

    Talk to someone...
No matter what problems you (all of you) have, there is someone out there to help you. These people are in schools (nurses, teachers, counselors, etc), and churches, social work clinics, doctors, even the legal assistance offices as well as the police. These would be the best places to go as these people do not take sides and are not judgemental. Besides, your 'friend's Mom' would probably want to help, but if she talks to your parents first, this could cause worse problems and then they would no longer want to help anyone anymore due to the stress involved. Please see professionals who are sworn to secrecy if you choose not to do anything about your problem at present, but just need someone to talk to. This way you can choose when to take action, and I hope you will not take too long to take the action needed to help you get your lives together. Just don't forget that you do have rights and they are there for you to use them. Anything is better than living a miserable life at your young age. I wish you all the best and hope things work out.

Maybe he really doesn't know what he's doing. Just don't go near him... I'm sure he'll understand that,. :o

Thousandmiles, thanks for your response, but this post is nearly two years old - I doubt the original poster is even on this site anymore.
(haha... I just get tired of getting "update emails" about stuff that's two years old, that's all!. lol)

Hope you understand what I mean... thanks and best wishes on AskMeHelpDesk!
