    Plaback music notes: Software? Website?
I'm looking for an easy way to enter notes from sheet music and play it back.

Nothing fancy... just my bass part of specific songs. I don't read music, so I have to either memorize my part during practice or pluck it out on a keyboard.

I'm looking for a way that I can hear and practice just my part.

Any suggestions for something simple and not too expensive... or better yet, free?

    Thanks!

You need a midi editor. Try looking up cakewalk, see if they have anything that's free or trial.

    Oooh, just found this:

MIDI/Audio Sequencers - The Sonic Spot

Useful! And all of those will do what you want, I think! :)
Just check they are midi before you download.

Thanks, Cap! I see cakewalk has a $30 app (that's not too bad) - and now that I know the keyword, I see a couple freebies at download.com that I'll try first.

Yes, MIDIs work by storing the sheet music and then using a midi sequencer to play it back, this is why they create vwery small files, but it's hard to make a good version of a song using it, the audio libraries that are used for playback are usually poor.

But they are perfect for learning how a piece of sheet music should sound!
