What would be the best way to back up a physical server that has 2 Hyper V servers on
I have a client with 1 server that has 2 VM's on it. One VM is a mail server, the other a domain controller. Am looking for a simple backup solution. My thought would be to just back up the physical machine and not worry about hyper V snapshots. If I just use "windows server backup" and save a system image of it to an external hard drive, would I be able to recover individual VM by creating a new virtual machine and during set up use a backed up .VHD file.
Or should I back up each individual virtual Machine using Hyper V's Backup System, in addition to also backing up the entire physical server running the virtual machines?
