    CNC Router
We are using WINCNC. Is there something better?

We have a Warthog CNC router, but the manufacturer's tech support isn't helping us very well. We checked the resolution and backlash compensation, but our cuts are out of the path at at the entry and withdraw points of the lines. A straight line looks like this

The "out of Round" appears to be one degree and is always on the same side.

Also, parallel lines cut in the same direction are properly spaced. If the lines are cut opposite directions, then they are off by about 1/16th of an inch

My boss insisits nothing is loose and the bearings should be good

    Hi Steve,

    Steve,
The statement you make is unkind and misleading. Please note that your machine is not a true WARTHOG. It was sold some time ago to you by a different company. I don’t know what your warranty was with them. We had NO warranty with you. We offered to come to your place and repair as needed, but you opted for Tech services by Email and over the phone. During that time we aided you with more than 20 emails and phone calls. That is more than the normal amount of time and emails needed before a problem is fixed.
You did not have some equipment needed to test some problem areas. After getting some equipment you responded “I finally borrowed a dial gage from a machinist. It really helps to have the proper tools to do the job!” You later became frustrated, but remember; we are working with someone else’s machine and doing so in response to your questions. You make this statement on 9/19/05. On 9/23/05 we understood from you that the problems had been corrected with our assistance.
Please note. We were willing to help (even come to your place) when you could not find some one else. Your machine is not a WARTHOG. We assisted you by E mail. We made suggestions and responded to your questions. We really went the extra mile for you.
    Thank you
    Lewis French

My apologies. I'm a little confused what I said where and when.
You are right. It is somebody else's rebuild. I must not have realized this at the time. The gantry has your company logo on it, so that's why I thought it was yours.

And, this is Neal who works for Steve.

And recently we found 2 bolts missing in the gantry this whole time. SUPER IMPROVEMENT!

There was a terminal hanging by a single strand in the Molex to the Z axis stepper motor. That explains a lot, too.

Today I just retuned the servos. It was my first time actually using an oscilloscope for work. I'm amazed how much nicer it runs. It was really out of tune! That was Brandon's advice. Since then, Ive stated a good word or two about Brandon on the BobCAD forum, I think.

The grounds you suggested helped us to keep static off the table. The vacuum system was like a vandegraff generator (or whatever it is called)

I apologize for bad feelings. I get mad when I don't understand things. Sorry.

But I'm climbing the learning curve and it sure helps to understand how the parts of the machine work.
