    Solving Linear Equations and Inequalities
    I've been working on a practice set and this equation is giving me some trouble:

    -(3/4x-1/3)+2x

    The answer key says the answer is:

    5/4x +1/3

    I don't understand why the answer is stated as such. Shouldn't
    the 5/4x be -5/4x because of the distributive property? Also,
    shouldn't the 5/4x and 2x be multiplied by LCD 4? If someone could
    write out the solution this would help me understand better.

    Hello Dan

    -(3/4x-1/3) +2x --> (-3/4x -- 1/3) + 2x --> -3/4x + 1/3 + 8/4x --> 5/4x + 1/3

    :)
