Should grams of splenda be included in the 40 grams per day of sugar ?
I need to reduce my sugar intake. Do splenda grams count toward the 40 grams of sugar per day ? Thanks.

Splenda is the brand name for an artificial sweetener called sucralose. It is manufactured from sugar, but doesn't have the caroloric intake that sugar does.
You would be reducing your sugar intake considerably if you used Splenda instead of sugar.

Splenda contains chlorine and has been giving people problems from upset stomach to dizziness. I would use Stevia, as this is more natural and contains no calories. It is sweeter than sugar and safe for diabetics. There is also honey too. In the raw form, it can increase your immune system.

Every artificial sweetener has its downside. At present Stevia has not been passed by for consumption in anything, in Canada. Not saying it isn't okay, but it has its downside too as not being suitable for consumption and causing everything from birth defects to heart attacks.
Absolutely no sweetener at all in your food is the best way. I am a diabetic and I don't use any sweetener or sugar and read all labels when shopping in supermarkets.

Please show me the proof at what you said about Stevia, tickle. There are some people that would be very interested in that. I am now going to research that myself.
The FDA here does not approve many things that have been found to be very beneficial, that is why this is of interest. Stevia enjoys widespread use in Japan, China, and Korea, countries which actually ban the chemical and artificial sweeteners which are abundantly used in the US. It has been around for hundreds of years.
Of course, it's different if your pregnant, any unknown substance might cause problems, but heart attacks? Give me the study, please.

That website states maybe a danger, if only in large amounts. The dosage for Stevia is recommended small amounts.
I figure if something that has been around for so long, with no known side effects, universally, and then you run into some "skeptics" that say maybe this or that, without proof, can be taken into account.
That website mostly praises it.
(If it were up to me, though, I would just use honey.)
