Well, how tall are you? Also, this may be the first time I've ever heard of a woman saying she was self-conscious about being too skinny. Also, if you have trouble putting on weight, and you are abnormally skinny for your height, you may have a thyroid condition.

Until you experience it, you can't imangine. I was like you but I was 5 ft 8, 112 lbs of long and nothing, but don't despair! Do you realize how many people want to be like you, a lot of girls are starving themselves to have what we hate! Anyway here some foods that will help you. Don't use junk food or fast food, greasy foods they have way too much transfat and saturated fat and that's not good for your general health. What you do want to work into your diet is: Sources of Omega 3 fatty acids like salmon, tuna in water, flax and walnuts, nuts, seeds, legumes, chickpeas, kidney beans, peanut butter, omelets, Whole grain cereals, rice pasta, granola, bagels and cornbread.
Veggies like avocados, olives, potatoes, peas, corn, squash.
Fruits like canned fruit in syrup, dried fruits and fruit nectar drinks. Use protein powders and nutritional supplements like Ensure or Instant breakfast drinks. Use a multivitamin and mineral supplement every day.
Use milk instead of water in cereals, soups, sauces. Mix cooked chop meat, wheat germ, nuts, beans, or cheese in casseroles, pasta, rice and side dishes. Try and add at least 300-350 calories a day to your normal intake. Try eating larger portions and more often throughout the day. Sometimes, it just takes time to gain weight, if this doesn't help check with your physican and have a through exam and make sure everything is OK. Hope this helps.

Breakfast is really important because it wakes up your digestive system and helps it absorb food better. I'd say a big, fat filled breakfast couldn't hurt every morning

Okay, stop eating the junk food now!
Eat nutritious foods that are high in calories. Examples are whole-grain breads, vegetables such as avocados and potatoes, kidney beans, lean red meat, poultry and fish.
Increase the caloric value of your meals. Like add chopped meat to your pasta sauce.
Avoid skipping meals. Eat three meals a day and at least two snacks.
Increase your normal portion size. Take a second scoop of pasta, or add two bananas to your oatmeal.
Choose higher-calorie foods when given a choice. For example, corn is higher in calories than green beans.
Relax - excessive fidgeting and restlessness can burn up a lot of calories.
Add weight lifting to your exercise program. It helps build muscle mass.
    Tips & Warnings
You should have a doctor rule out any physical problems, such as hormonal imbalances, if you cannot seem to put on any weight.
Although it seems like a logical way to bulk up, avoid adding excess fat and sweets to your diet. Eat fats and oils in moderation; they should account for no more than 30 percent of your total caloric intake.
    Good luck!

whole grains (oatmeal, real whole wheat bread), meat, veggies, butter, oil, cream. Hey, Im talking about how folks ate a long time ago, before everything was processed, villainized, de-fatted, de-sugared, etc. I also agree with many of the suggestions of nicespringgirl.
p.s. FYI, you will probably, like most people, burn less calories and gain more weight easily after age 30
