I am looking to connect 4 of my branches to my Head office. (total of 5 Networks)
Presently none of the networks have internet, I have been looking at viable ways to connect the branches.

So far I have come up with the following:

• xDSL Data Lines provided by my ISP.
• Point to Point Wireless connection

The network is being set Up for a POS software, so reliability is crucial.

As I know Wireless is unreliable.
DSL is a good option but the connection speed being offered here (Kuwait), are expensive and slow.

Therefore I am looking for other viable Options...

Other than wireless and xDSL you can try T1's or higher, TLS (Transparent LAN Services), CableModems, or other technologies that might be offered by ISP's or Cable Providers. Check with them for additional services.

You think that wireless would be unreliable. Why? How far apart are these locations? I can only think of a limited period where wireless might be unreliable (the annual sand storms) but typically it can be very reliable depending on the technology used.

As I mentioned I live in Kuwait, My ISP is very limited and doesn't offer much. So when I asked them is there any other way, their representative gave me a confused look, so to my knowledge they only offer xDSL method for connecting 2 netowrks.

Can you enlighten me on Cable Modems or is that the same as xDSL just Cable instead.. (btw none of the Kuwaiti ISP's offer cable internet so I don't think they offer this.)

Well I don't really know much about Wireless, the few people I went to for wireless services told me that its not very reliable. If you say its reliable please enlighten me..

It really depends on how far apart your locations are. Some wireless bridges can go as far as several miles with a Yagi antena using line of sight. I use those running 802.11a and for me they've been extremely reliable through good and bad weather conditions.

Describe the two locations you're trying to connect. Where they are, how far apart they are, are they Line of Sight from each other, etc.

DSL is a excellent choice & stay definitely clear of wireless wireless for POS.. Also, condiser setting up a VPN connection to allow you remote desktop access via a secure "tunnel" to the remote sites.
