Scott, we tried with both Home Premium and Business. I have to use OpenVPN to get to my company's servers across the country and we couldn't map the network drives.

Is OpenVPN compatible with Vista? I think your problem is with the VPN, not necessarily with Vista. What did your company's system admins say?

P.S. I've moved this to a separate thread. Its not a good idea to try to help two different people in one thread.

Thanks for the new thread, sorry about that I still get worked up about the issue and just started typing.

The system admins were clueless as usual with my company, unfortunately. Their proposed solution, after two weeks of deliberation, was to wipe the Vista and install XP or ship them the laptop so they could "tinker" with it. Switching computers with hubby was the unfortunately best solution.

We thought it might be the VPN, but we never could find any definitive answer as to whether they were compatible or not. We could get the VPN to connect and ping the servers, just couldn't map the network drive.

I try not to use mapped drives whenever I can. Instead I use UNC coding.

I wish we had admins that were creative problem solvers. Alas. I stay with this company because I can work from home and make enough to support my family. Thanks for your time :)
