    Yellow-flagged "multimedia audio controller"
I keep getting a Bad directsound driver, Error code: 8878000A. In the device manager the "multimedia audio controller" under "other devices" is yellow flagged. I've tried to reinstall the driver but it is not found within my system and I don't have it saved anywhere nor do I have the original cd. Do I need this driver; since it is listed under "other devices" would it be an option to delete it? Should I delete it and reinstall it?

That may work. You do not have your motherboard CD? It might be on there if your soundcard is on your motherboard. If you have an add-on card you might go to the maker's website for it.

As with an hardware device, yes - you will need a driver... If you have a "stock" PC, contact the manufacturer a/o go to the website and download the driver and any other device you have listed the "OtherDevice" folder.

    This is a common problem...

DirectSound sounds like one of the DirectX drivers. You can try installing the latest DirectX drivers right from Microsoft to see if that will replace the corrupted file with a newer version:

If all else fails, go to Google and type in Free Drivers. Look through those offered, some offer scans to determine which driver you need. Go from there
