Problems loading a DVD into Windows Movie Maker.
I'm not sure if I'll be able to explain my situation clearly, but I'll try.
I have a Hitachi DZ-MV550A and this is my first time using it. I finalized the DVD-R and loaded it into my computer. It comes up on the computer as DVD_CAMERA (E, so that's not the problem. Now I want to edit the video so when I go to Windows Movie Maker I go to import video. But when I go to there it says "The file E:\DVDCAM\DVDCAM.IFO is not a supported file type, and it cannot be imported into Windows Movie Maker." Do I have to convert it or am I just importing it wrong. Help!

IFO files are what DVD movies use, you would have to convert it to a file type that works with movie maker

If you go to import file you should see towards the bottom, File Types, if you click the down arrow you will see the types that can be imported

You could convert to avi or mpeg file and that would work fine with movie maker

There is a trial version avail, but do not really know what limitations it may have as a trial, it amy only allow you to convert a few minutes or so until Full version

    IFO Converter
IFO Converter - IFO to MPEG, AVI to IFO Converter

What you can try to do is to play your IFO file in Windows Media Player and while it is playing, click on File at the top and click Save as..

And in the save as box, type in the name of the file you would like to save it as
    Ex... movie.mpg

Now where you choose to save it, it will have the file you just saved

Now see if you can import the file you just saved. Have not tried this, Hope it helps
