I've had this annoying little problem where my sound suddenly turns itself off in the past. Here's what I do to make it better.

Go to control panel and Multimedia (Sounds and Audio devices on windows XP). Make sure that mute is not checked and that the slider bar is not all the way on low.

Click advanced and make sure that Master/Main and Wave or Wave Mix or whatever your first two volume sliders are are not all the way down.

This fixes it for me every time. Hope it helps you.

A friend of mine had this problem today and his volume levels were not the problem. He was using ME, so you'll have to adapt it somewhat. Try this:

Here's what I want you to try, since you have no sound already, It can't really hurt.

    1. Reboot into Safe Mode.
    2. Open Device Manager
    3. Under Sounds.. delete everything that has anything to do with audio. Not Codecs, but everything else.
    4. Reboot into regular windows and it should reinstall the drivers, you may need the ME cd.

You people are stupid ? Or What. It's simple.
Reboot you pc, then in windows go to start, execute.
Type exactly this: MSOUND02 and click OK.
    That's all FOLKS! 8)
