I just tried several ways to burn DVDs with Nero Vision 4 and tried with Menu and without. When I play the one with the anmated menu, it does nothing but loop the menu. I can't get past the menu. Nothing I tried works. Am I missing a step? The one I created without a menu works fine. It just starts when I put it in. What is up with the menu though.. Does it need me to define chapters? Someone please help... I have read all of the help menus, guides and even chat sites... :confused:

Have you tried reburning the dvd with the menu again, it may just be a one off, check the preview in nero vision 4 you know, just before it askes you to burn the dvd, and see if the same happens there.

Thanks for your help... I tried several different occasions and have read a lot of discussion groups about other users with similar problems. My friends were no help either until one of them turned me on to SONY DVD ARCHITECT 4.0.

On the first attempt with the SONY program, I managed to create menus just like the ones we get from the professional studios.

That solved all my problems... Don't think I will use nero again.

Lol, I'm having problems with nero too... I think I'll give sony a try... does it do the same as nero vision 4 (turn avi. Into dvds and burn them)?

In order to make a dvd, you have to first change your AVI, which is like a raw format and compress it to MPEG-2, which is a standard format for DVD's. I found and use SONY Vegas Platinum to edit my raw AVI's - MPEG's - and then save them as DVD NTSC which saves the final in MPEG-2.

You then open the Architect program to design the DVD layout. This allows you to tell the DVD which file to play first, like a jpeg image of a warning not to copy the DVD, then it can go to main menu and to what you designed for your DVD.

You have to convert the AVI's to MPEG's first before you can put them on a DVD because every DVD player reads MPEG-2 and generally not AVI's unless they say so.

Together, the use of both of these programs allow me to give a client a top notch product. It is quite pricey but well worth it if you are making money from your work.
