There is a short video clip that can only viewed online(doesn't work with right click "save as"), however, I wish to capture the video clip down. When I clicked the file, it prompted realone player... I have tried some shareware video capture program but it just show blank... any help ? Thanks ! :)

You need the REAL video player to play it.
If you don't have it, you can download it from:

If you can't save the clip, think of it that anyhow it will be in your IE's cache once you played it "online". You can copy it from there.

Yes, I have the REAL player.
To be exact, I downloaded a file : e.g. abc.ram. The file just contain a line text : http://abc.com/xyz.rm

When I double-clicked on the file abc.ram, it just bring up the RealOne player. Does it mean at the end of player: it will be "saved" to the Internet Explorer if though I didn't need to open the IE ?
By the way, I would really appreciate if you could teach me how to get that file from the IE's cache... not sure of the procedure.

Eh, no, as you describe it, you saved the URL, not the clip. However, double clicking on it should open IE and take you to the site, if you're online.
Otherwise, left click on it online in Internet Explorer, and wait for the clip to download. The player will open first, downloading probably takes more time than what you expect. Wait for any sign that the download is complete (slider bar or message on the realplayer, or the end of the clip if it shows up).
Then search your harddisk for a file named "xyz.ram" - however, it is not necessarily stored under that filename.
But you should be able to identify it by its size and date in the "temporary internet files" folder which you can locate with the "search" function of the "start" menu.
It should be somewhere like:
c:\documents and settings\<your username>\local settings\temporary internet files\...

However, I couldn't find the file. By the way, I am Netscape 7.02.
I can only found 3 files in my C:\temp directory :
1. Pnxd0a3.tmp
2. Pnxd0a5.tmp
3. Pnxd0b0.tmp

And those 3 files keep growing as the RealOne Player keeps playing online.

Any advice ? :o

Do they never stop growing? Not even at the end of the clip?

Seems like after it finished playing, the 3 files will just change its size back to beginning (15k). Perhaps they secure the files and prevent people from copy the video file... :(

Just to offer a suggestion on a different angle:

I know mplayer can save real audio streams to a file. I believe it can also work in the same fashion with real video.

Do you mean the mplayer in Windows ? Unfortunately, it don't seems to recognize the *.ram (or realone player) format. Also, seems like my mplayer is a simple one without any capture/recording feature to "save" the file... :o

hoonsk, what you need is a software called STREAM BOX VCR. This beauty will automatically capture the ip address of the streaming media web site you would like to d/l from. Simply do a search on Yahoo or Google, etc. though it may take some time to find it, because last time I seen it was back in 2001. And I don't know if the company's still around, but there are diff versions--Beta 2, beta 30, and beta 31. When I had it, they said version beta 30 works best. I think this site works.. it's a forum here...
