Can I reduce the size of an animated gif?
When I reduce the size (dimensions) of an animated gif (I use PhotoshopElements), it is no longer animated.

Is there a way to reduce the size of animated gifs and retain the animation?

    Thanks!

Hehe, I tried that but then I remembered that an animated gif is a collection of successive images. You'd have to use an add-on like they have for PaintShop to edit the animated gif so that all the "frames" are affected.

Thanks, Need. I'll look to see what add-ons are available for PhotoshopElements.

And so Demonspeeding does not get dizzy and fall out of his chair...

Aah... I see. It's about what Photoshop calls "layers"... assuming called "frames" in PaintShop.

    Thanks, Need!

Layers are still layers in PSP, I used the word "frames" myself because that's kind of how animated gifs are made - just like cartoon animations, several frames going by quickly. An animated gif is a small cartoon of several individual images that contain small changes between each image. When saved in the correct order as an anumated gif you get the illusion of motion.

It does! Thank you! See Ive been looking to reduce the animated gif on my site. But, what if I want to enlarge one? Would I have to do the layers biggers or what?

Yes... but remember, you will lose quality with enlarging.

Enlarging a gif will make the quality of the image suffer greatly.
