    Kawasaki gas leak
I have a 2001 Kawasaki W650 (the triumph knock-off). Recently I have had two problems that seem to be related. First I have water in my tank - I drained it, cleaned it and after about 3 weeks (and several heavy thunderstorms) it seems to be exhibiting the same trouble (coughing, stalling etc.). At about the same time I noticed that if I filled the tank near full, gas leaked out of the cap area. After looking around while draining the tank, I noticed that one of the tubes coming off the tank nozzle was plugged - it was the tube that did not connect to the carbs (maybe an overflow vent?). When I unclogged it gas immediately leaked out. If I tie it off again, gas leaks out of the gas cap.

Is there a vacuum filter that has gone out? Something crapped up in the tank (it looked rust-free and clean when I emptied it).

    Any help out there?

    Thanks
    N.

    Hi there
Have you checked all the breathers from your tank because if they are blocked it will pressurise the tank as for the running have you drained the carbs and cleaned them out it could be that you have got a small bit off crap floating in the carb and clogging the jets
    Hope this might help

    Bob,

That does sound like the right idea - do you know how to find all of the breathers? There are three tubes that come off the bottom of the tank, but are there breathers at the fuel cap as well? Should I worry about any other tubes that come from places down the line (like off the carbs)?

Appreciate the help - it definitely sounds like the right starting place.

    Hi there
Not sure on that bike but most breathers go to fresh air also check were the fuel cap is if there's a small hole that could be a breather it has to be clean as from carbs no take all pipes of from tank 1 at atime and blow them through as for missing in the wet try at the coils and leads and seal leads each end with a silicone grease hope it helps
