I would dare say that these pills are not yours, since you say you found them and do not know what they are. Since they are not yours, you should throw them away - either flush them down the toilet or in the garbage. If you really wondered, you would call the local Emergency Room and ask. They would not tell you either, but tell you to dispose of them.

Where does everyone just find pills laying around, I don't think I have ever found pills except when I was a police officer and "found" them in kids pockets and cars.

So since they are not yours merely throw them away since no one takes others medication

Maybe they are tic tacs. I once found a pill in my sons room and I went nuts I ran to the pharmacy and asked what could this pill be.. he laughed and said it was a tic tac. LOL I was very young and that one tic tac had me about ready to put my son into rehab... thank goodness I said nothing to him but checked with the pharmacy first. It was really kind of funny.
And NO I have never since then just found a pill laying around.. thank Goodness, but if I did I would run to the pharmacy with it. My youngest son still lives at home. I do not think he uses anything but a strange pill would not send me to a message board, but to my pharmacy.

I was reading on this a bit and a few brands of birth control are black and small in shape, but without any marking information it would be impossible to know for sure.

Thanks everyone. Yeah, I guess it would be wise to throw them out. I just wondered. A relative dropped them and is a known 'user' and I was afraid my two year old would find one that I didn't and think of it as candy.

If you have a real reason to want to know what they are, take them to a local drug store, they will tell you what they are.

If they are being used by a drug user, most likely it is a form of speed, a lot more common 15 years ago. ( from the way you described it) but it can be a pill for your cat or anything also.

If knowing will not make a difference in your life, throw it out, if you have to know, take it to your druggest.
