    Positive hair analysis test
Hi I had an hair analysis test done last week and tested positive for hydrocodone. I was told to list all the meds I was taking prior to the test and I did that. So the MRO called me and told me I tested positive for hydrocodone but my problem is I had bad migraines and was taking my husbands prescription. She asked me for proof of my prescription and as long as it's been in the last 12 months. I have an old prescription for Tylenol 3 with codeine that I can use but will that be OK to use since she say I tested positive for hydrocodone and do you think I really tested positive for hydrocodone or is she saying that because that's what I say I had used? I also went and got a prescription today for hydrocodone from my doctor but he wasn't able to backdate it. So which prescription should I present to them for proof? I desperate need this job. I need some good advice because tomorrow is my deadline to provide proof. Please help

You tested positive because you've been using hydrocodone. Your doctor can't backdate it because that would be against the law. A prescription for tylenol 3 will not explain the hydrocodone found in your test.

I don't see any way to get around this. There's really nothing you can present as proof, because you didn't have a prescription until after the test was done.

Well the new one I have could be a refill. One sheet has my name and info and the meds but no date so would I be able to submit that one. Gosh you never realize how something like this would affect you.

I don't mean to be rude. You wrote that you would say you are using an old Tylenol 3 with codeine prescription and not mention your husband's prescription (please don't take someone else's meds) that you have been taking. What is that prescription?

I'm sorry I wasn't clear enough. I had a prescription myself for Tylenol 3 that I had taken but I will be honest and say I was in pain and didn't have anymore Tylenol and I took some of my husbands meds. My new prescription in which I'm prescribed that I need is for hydrocodone but I didn't get it until after the hair test was conducted. I thought Tylenol with codeine and hydrocodone was the same and would show up the same. I am just lost and don't know what to do about this :(

I think you should tell the truth about taking his meds since you tested positive for hydrocodone.

I did tell the truth way before I even took the test. Now they just want proof.

The straight honest approach is best and then you won't have to lie to cover a lie. That's worse. Even if they fail you they may understand. Big difference between Tylenol 3's and hydrocodone.

If he has a script for hydrocodone that's all you need as proof.

So you're saying I can use his script to justify me using his meds? I don't want to lie at all so that's why I'm asking for help

You have no choice because that's the truth. You either show them a legal script, or they will think you bought it from a dealer on the street. Your choice.

Both are wrong, but a migraine is understandable. Right? Doesn't him having a legal script prove your honesty? Of course it does. How much slack it cuts you is up to them. You get no slack for lying, So take your chances with the truth.
