    Stomach/constipation problem
    I've been having constipation problems for the past year before that never had constipation in my life. Tried laxatives and fiber and pretty much anything else you could think of as recommended by a doctor. They can't quite figure it out. Stomach gurgles and feels full at night. Can't defecate when I feel the urge it's usually a long process and I don't feel like I'm done. Someone please help because previous doctors have just given me laxatives.

    What types of tests have the doctors did ? Are they sending you to additional doctors for exam? After medication did not work did you return to your doctor for more tests ?

    I think I've only gotten a stool test. Which was negative for blood. Other than that no I guess I've gotten crappy doctors so far which is why I'm asking online to see if it's worth it to go in to another doctor because I just moved. But one doctor even suggested to me that I need to speak to a psychologist because "there's nothing I can tell that's wrong with you"

    No s**t eh? (Sorry, I REALLY couldn't help myself, but you started it! Crappy doctors.)

    It is worth it to go to another doctor, if he's not that useful then try to get referred to a specialist. There could be something seriously wrong that is causing the 'back up' so to speak. You really do need a LOT more tests. Testing for blood doesn't help you.

    How old are you? What gender? What weight, what level of activity?
    No X ray or CAT or MRI?
    Do you live in a poor area of the country? Are you on Medicaid or other public health?

    You could have a bowel obstruction. You could have sagging organs from age and weight and childbirth. You could have many things. If laxatives and fiber don't work, and this is new in your life, you need more tests. Meanwhile, change your eating habits drastically. No more 'white' anything - flour, sugar, rice, or pasta. Whole grains and fresh veggies and fruits only. Apples! Bake some. I happen to love fresh broccoli and I cut it into tiny pieces that steam in 3 minutes, I put a tiny bit of cheese on top. (Cheese is a no no for constipation though). I can't get constipated or I get pain.

    21. 170. I play basketball most days. No kids. Live in the us. Covered under my mom. I have had an X-ray. Didn't do much with that either.

    Aha! Young and athletic. Let's talk HYDRATION. Do you drink tons, and I mean tons, of water all day when doing sports? And I don't mean Coke or any other sugar and caffeine laden soft drink. Mostly water, some sports drinks, to get enough salt replenishment. Maybe one in 5.

    Also, what do you eat? Did you stop eating your mother's cooking and start living on pizza and burgers?

    An X ray might not have been enough, if you really do have something. I can imagine that most doctors will brush you off just because of your age.

    Usually like wheat bread with turkey. Eggs. Soup. Sometimes a burger once in awhile. I consume a lot of water that was recommended awhile go from a previous a doctor. Drink almost always water.
    Like what could I have?

    What you could have would be rare, that's the trouble. No blood in stool, nothing on X ray, no pain. Possibly an obstruction as stated, that didn't show on X ray (MRI would be better).
    If you can convince your insurance to give you an MRI, do so.

    Doctors won't take you seriously until more is evident. For now you will have to rely on a high fiber diet. You might be allergic to a food, although I doubt it, because your symptoms don't fit. You aren't getting enough fresh fruits and vegetables. An apple a day, and at least one serving of a FRESH steamed vegetable. No canned or frozen. If your soup is canned, throw the freshly steamed veggie in it.
    Learn to cook. Plenty of men are chefs and good cooks. 'Wheat bread' is for most brands very little different from white flour bread with a little whole wheat added. Some just add brown coloring... study food labels carefully.
    Once when I was young I sifted the bran out of a bit of whole wheat flour and ate it, and had diarrhea within a few hours.
    Eat your last meal of the day as early as possible.
