    Chest tightness
I'm a 43 yr old male with controlled HB. For the past week I have been experiencing mild to very moderate chest tightness with some pain. The pain worsens when I breathe and sometimes it's hard to breathe. It is most severe in the evenings and night. The pain can last anywhere from minutes to an hour or more. The pain is is right in the center of the chest. Resting doesn't help. In fact if I lay on my back it gets worse.

Please go to the ER now. This is not something to be researched on the internet. It could be a heart attack, yes they can last for days before they kill you, or it could be something less urgent like pneumonia. We cannot diagnose you here.

Thank you. My biggest problem is I am a full-time missionary in the Philippines and there are no cardiologist here or ERs near where I live.

I am in the US and know nothing about the medical community there. I'm sure they have hospitals, don't they?

Most big towns and cities have hospitals or clinics with an.ER but I live in a very small community in Bohol. I will definitely get it checked first thing tomorrow. I have GERD so I kept associating it to that for the past several days but tonight it doesn't seem to be letting up even after several hours so I'm thinking it's either the heart or pneumonia. My BP is not too bad. 143/93 with 75 heart rate.

Thank you. I will go there. It's about 1.5 hours away but I think they have an ER. I had forgotten about them. They closed for a while for remodeling but are now open again.

Thank you for taking this serious Ang getting checked out. An enlarged heart can be dangerous, as can unstable angina.

I hope you start feeling better soon.
