Mononucleosis is an acute viral infection caused by the Epstein-Barr virus. Young people are most often affected by this virus.

Understand it is a virus and most likely will go away on its own after a while.

Treatment is basically treating the symptoms. Such as Tylenol for fever, etc. Bedrest should be enforced though to prevent serious complications.

So, tylenol and bedrest are the most important treatments. Saline gargles for throat discomfort.
